Not a whole lot of room in the bay but im sure it can be done with a lot of time an money. I know you have to notch the core support to put a VR6 in a A4, and they are only about 2 inches longer than the 1.8t in there now. You would have some serious issues finding a place for the radiator. For the rear, you would need a donor AWD car to swap all the parts from and then I would look for a S4 center section to handle the power and give you a better ratio. Good lock, research is going to be your best bet here.

i busted out the tape measure today and measured the difference in the 1.8T and the LS2 in my TBSS. the ls2 is about 1 inch wider and about 1.5" longer, including accessory drive. I believe stock like audi radiator would work with converting the fans to front mount pusher style. there is actually alot of room in there. i could relocate the battery and pick up about 6" in overall length. I'm kinda stuck on the rear end problem. I was thinking S4 carrier or a rear out of an audi 5000.

It would have been so much easier if you started out with a quattro, you'd just have to swap in/fabricate a beefier rear end like a Cobra IRS 8.8 or something. Since your not quattro, like Old_School said you need to swap everything over from a quattro. I recently had the front end of a V6 4Motion Passat off and was amazed at how wide the V6 is. Its a 90 degree V6 BTW and there is definitely enough room in there for an LS1. The thought occurred to me to do an LS1 swap but it wasn't my car. A V6 AWD car would be the best candidate to start with.
