I'm working on a similar conversion was wondering if the torque converter from the transmission donor vehicle will work on the LS2? And even if it bolts up, is the stall high enough for a stock LS2?
Thanks,
Whit

The stock 6L90 converter bolts up and works fine. It feels like a stock converter would. Not as loose as I like converters, but not too tight at all for a stock LS2.

I'm not having much luck finding a reasonably priced used 6L90E. Does anyone know where I can buy a new one at a reasonble price. Our dealers here in Portland don't try very hard to price things right. John, I know you have the the 2WD version but not I'm looking for a 4WD version. Does anyone have part numbers for these things so I can do a little searching?
Thanks,
Whit

I wish that was true! ![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
Sounds like GM parts direct pricing. Don't forget the Vaseline when they bend you over on shipping.![Moon](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies2/moon.gif)
Also these transmissions have a core charge; they end up being around $3000.

is anyone offering rebuilds for these yet?
i am guessing there are not interchangible parts between these and the 4l80's
what is the limiting factor in these as far as breakage? input shafts?
what is it going to take for one of these to live behind 1khp/tq - 800hp/tq ?

I'm at the point of no return and looking for some info. I picked up a 4wd 6L90 with 6 miles on it for $1300. Now I'm trying to swith my 24x LS2 to a 58x unit so I can get Speartech to program that E38. I've read a lot of theory talk about changing a 24x LS2 to a 58x LS2 and vice versa but I haven't heard of anyone actually doing it. I have the new reluctor ring, cam gear and crank sensor but have some more questions.
Does anyone have a part number for the 58x cam sensor?
Is the new cam sensor a direct replacement or do I need to replace the cover as well?
Are rest of the sensors compatible?
What do I do for a shifter with this thing?
Thanks,
Whit

I don't know how many of the sensors will interchange, but I do know that changing the reluctor wheel will require some skills and a few special tools. BTW you might look into the new harness kit that GM just started selling to control your setup. It's p/n:19166568 for the x58 LS2's and it comes with computer, harness, o2 sensor's, and the throttle pedal. I'm not 100%, but it looks like a E67 ECU and the best part is they are only $815 from Scoggins Dickey.

You may have some issues unless your GTO is going to be 4WD. I have no idea if there is a way to convert the 4WD 6L80 to 2 WD. You'll definately need a longer shaft and maybe the snout is a bolt on. Or maybe not. Good luck.

I am working on a 06 Solstice project and picked up a 6L80E and will be dropping in a 650hp na LS7 or LS3/L92 (Still deciding). Original config was a 4cyl. So whats my cheapest option for adapting the wiring harness and the right controller for the LS/6L80E?
