Default Mulling Over Third Gen Swap

How much is involved in a swap into a third gen? From what I hear and fiugre it should be one of the easiest swaps. I planned on getting a new lightweight k member with lsx mounts. So fitting it shouldn't be an issue but what about all the acc. like the power stering and alternator. Do you use them from the lsx or from the third gen? I also figured to use the complete lsx wiring harness.

Default Third gen swap? That was Easy! (staples button)

I'm in the middle of doing this to my 91Z, here is the list of parts and estimated costs I've compiled so far. I had already swapped over to a LT1 style T56, so there is some differences if your going to an automatic or buying the engine/ tranny together. As you can see, it's relatively easy, just a little expensive. I've saved quite a bit by taking my time and scouring the web for deals as they appear. I hope to hear it fire up next spring.

List of costs
Take out engine w/harness $1,900.00
Headers $799.00
Exhaust $300.00
Motor mounts $85.00
Tubular crossmember $520.00
Wiring Harness $600.00
Fuel System $200.00
Misc Cost $250.00
Bolts for trans install $100.00
Aluminum flywheel $399.00
Clutch $390.00
Clutch Master Cylinder $329.00
Clutch Slave Cylinder $150.00
Tranny X-member $199.00

Adding that all up (& rounding it off a tiny bit), I get $5,835.00. A bit later this year, I'm hoping to do an LQ4 (w/ L92 heads)/T-56/big brakes swap into my GTA for < $10k - and if I can squeeze the costs enough, I'm hoping to even upgrade the rearend while I'm at it!

Of course, a few of the expenses listed above are optional, esp. the tubular crossmember & the wiring harness. A lot of people are notching the crossmember to accomodate the A/C, & more than a couple have tied the LSx engine harness to the stock thirdgen wiring harness - in fact, somewhere around here I have a post saved where someone said that only four wires were absolutely necessary. (I'd quote it here, but I didn't save who the author was, & I don't want to quote it w/o attribution.)

The best suggestion that I can offer you is to spend a good bit of time both here & on TGO's LTx & LSx swap forum - you should find more than enough info to answer just about any question you might have.
