Default Newbie here.. please help with wiring question

So my Dad and I are putting an LS1 in a 1950 woodie. We have most of the wiring completed on the engine and the harness was done by a local guy here. It is a harness from a 2000 Camero. My question is there is 5 wires not wrapped up in the loomed and labeled, TCC, TPS, TACH, Positive, and IGN. What do these wires connect to? From reading other threads this is what i have come up with.

The TCC goes and connects to a relay which is ran off the brake pedal, and the Positive (orange wire) connects to the hot side of the starter, and the IGN (pink) goes back to the ignition switch... Is this correct? What do i do with the other wires, as we aren't running a Tach. Also what about the TPS, is that for a cruise control, which we aren't running either.

Thanks for your help, I am still a newbie at wiring, so any help would be excellent.

Thanks again

- Andy

TPS would generally mean throttle posistion sensor. but if its just a single wire then i dont know, odd. TCC was for cruise control I thought. good luck

That is what i was wondering if all 4 of those wires are for a cruise control. If so then i could omit them. Does the computer already have the TCC programmed into it, then if so, how does it read when you hit the brakes?

Thanks.

Default wiring

Normally the 5 wires that are loomed out are the TCC, IGN, BAT, TACH and VSS.

The TPS should have three wires and the correct plug with to go on the Throttle Position Sensor. Maybe the VSS got tagged TPS by mistake. The guy that did the harness sure would be the one to ask. As you mentioned the Bat is 12V positive (always hot) the Ign goes to the ignition switch 12V positive (when key on) Tach is pulsed signal for rpm. The Tcc is release for converter and gets 12V positive when brake is released (opposite of brake lights) While you can use a relay ect and your old brake switch a later 79 and up GM plunger switch will give you the needed output. they are about $6 at most any parts store and you dont have to monkey with a relay and additional wiring.

If the other wire is VSS it is a pulsed signal with vehicle speed value. You can get a adapter to hook a cable speedo to it.

If you're running an electric speedo, the VSS can be wired right to the speedo and you're good. The TPS wire should have a 3pin connector on the end of it. One thing about GM's harness is that the connectors will only plug into the correct sensor. The TPS has to be connected or else the engine will not perform correctly.
