LS1 Cruise Control vs Universal Has anyone installed a cruise control on an LS1 (in a non-LS1 vehicle)? Did you use the stock LS1 cruise control module or one of the universal cuise control kits? Any advantage one way or the other?

Re: LS1 Cruise Control vs Universal I used the stock cruise control from my Astro AWD. Built new bracket for servo. Shortage of under hood space was the reason. Didn't like to mount the LS1 servo under the van.

Re: LS1 Cruise Control vs Universal I like the factory units. If you have a factory service manual to hook up the wiring, the GM unit is unmatched by any aftermarket unit as far as precision and reliability go.
On top of that, they are on practically every GM car since around 1991, so the junkyards are FULL of them just begging to be put back in use!!
Order a non-TCS cruise control cable from an LS1 F-body, and you're ready to go.
This assumes of course that you are using a GM type of steering column with the late model cruise switch in it (ON/OFF, SET/COAST, RESUME/ACCEL).
On top of that, they are on practically every GM car since around 1991, so the junkyards are FULL of them just begging to be put back in use!!
