No, over bore would be within the bore spacing dimensions.

Default Windsor W/LS1 Heads

I know people want to do this because they are Ford lovers & simply are looking for ways to improve their Windsor motors performance, and their Ford block is still bolted up to their tranny & all that, but... isn't there Ford heads(Cleveland) that bolt up without any intake, etc., hassles? The Cleveland heads were excellent flowing heads. They are available as aftermarket aluminum pieces as well.

Yes, but if you can get a set of heads (L92s) that flow 325cfm as cast from GM for $350 (bare), thats $1000-1200 cheaper than aftermarket ford heads would cost. Yes Cleveland heads potentially flow more but they don't have any port velocity either. This would only apply IF you were an innovator and DIY'er with the proper equipment. Obviously the fab work could quickly exceed the savings on the heads.

But 700 bucks for a cam. That kills the idea of this being cheap.

Not really. If you think about it, a set of as cast GM heads for cheap and you already have the Ford stuff. Now...lets say even $200 dollars for the heads. You can not get an updated set for under $700 unless you know someone. I would say it is a wash but the GM heads have the cool factor. Can not wait to see someone bump that thread overthere.

why can't you go the other way around, ford heads on an LS1 block? so you can use their awesome canted valve heads or whatever heads kept winning the engine masters contest.

Those are CHI heads that make the car a "Clevor" which is a windsor lower with Clevland upper. I like the idea of the chevy heads on the Ford block for several reasons. Mainly because I have seen more than a handfull of LS1s with oiling problems in the mains. Not sure why either but they had a few knocks in the lower end. Second, I can use my own stuff on them to make it work.
