Default 4L60E problem

I need some help with my tranny. It doesn't want to work. When I bought my motor/tranny, the electrical plug on the top pass. side that the harness plugs into was broken. I had to replace the harness inside the tranny to fix it. That was pretty straight forward so I don't think I could have screwed up anything. Once I got ready to fire it up I only put in 4 quarts of fluid and the dipstick said it was full. I thought it would need quite a bit more after I fired it up and it started to circulate. The problem is that it is not circulating. I can pull the lines off going to the cooler in the radiator and no fluid comes out. It is bone dry. With the car running the dipstick still says full. When I try to put it in gear nothing happens. Any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks, John

Is your torque convertor bolted to flexplate? i know that might sound silly but trust me it can happen Also drop pan and check filter, could be clogged. Also could be BAD pump.

If its bolted up, check to make sure you didn't forget the filter

how much fluid was in the converter when you started? Another thought: if any of the solenoids etc. going into the front pump aren't sealed, I doubt it's going to pull much fluid. Also: hopefully you installed the converter fully onto the front pump properly / fully.

Thanks for the replies. Yes the convertor is bolted in. The only thing with that was when I put the convertor in and then slid the tranny up to the motor it went together real easy. Almost too easy compared to older motors I have put together. It felt like it was seated in there right. The convertor had very little, if any, fluid in it. I didn't think about that at the time. Is there any way to get fluid in there without tearing everything apart? I replaced the filter when it was apart and made sure I got the o-ring in there. It snapped into place. Any more thoughts? Thanks, John

If the pump was working properly it will fill convertor no problem. Sounding more like pump is bad. Or one of the solenoids controling things went bad when plug was damaged.
Just a thought. Do you have ATap ? You can monitor various pressures in tranny with it, might help troubleshoot problem.

No, I don't have A-Tap. I may end up having to take it to a GM dealer and have them look at it. Thanks, John
