Default vette rear conversions

hi people, i am needing info from people that have transplanted c5/4 vette rear suspension and differentials into other vehicles. i also am interested to find out just how much they can be effectively narrowed as it is planned for a compact, bordering on sub-compact car. so if anyone knows of a company that has done a good few of these types of mods any help would be greatly appreciated . 2dr lj.

Hmmm let me see. I believe that would involve custom upper and lower A arms, custom half shafts, shortened torque tube & shifter linkage, and so on so forth. Do some searches and look at the exploded view of the rear assy, and you will see everything that would need to be changed or modified.

I have been lokking it to it and the C5 is way much work to get in my Vega Wagon to replace my Jaguar IRS.
It is posible but it is very much integrated wsith the chassi of the C5.

If anyone have more info on it I would love to get it.

The C4 is quite straight forward to shorten if you use it I would convert it to coilover spring/shocks.
I can`t find the pages were it was done on a Datsun/Nissan Z240 sorry about that.

What kind of car are you planning on building?

thanks guys. i have seen a few rolling chassis and understood the torque tube, linkage, half shafts etc but from what i have seen i thought that the chassis a arm mounts on the donor car could be cut and integrated onto the new chassis further inboard (or new mounts could be fab'd) that would be made to suit the new body. could be wrong though as i don't have the skills to do it myself, but a good friend of mine does, but has only done jag rears and old vettes not the newer vettes so i am trying to find out just how far i can push it and keep the same geometry. the transplant car is to be a holden lj torana 2dr which is smaller and narrower than a vega and will likely be gutted completely so just the outer shell is left and rebuilt to suit the new drivetrain. right now it has a gen1 406sbc and doesn't handle as well as i want. i was thinking about just the ls1(in 4xx")/t56 from a f body but what the hell! upgrade the engine once i have it all going. 2dr lj.

I have an entire C5 corvette under my 68 camaro. We could have narrowed it, but the width actually fit the stock 68 1/4 panels. The T56 transaxle mounts to a aluminum cradle, that also serves as a mount for the lower control arms, sway bar links, the transverse leaf spring, and to mount the assembly to the frame.
If you built a new cradle and fabbed upper and lower control arms, new half shafts, coil over mounts, and a frame to mount it all to, you can package it in a small space. Check my web page for pics of the rear suspension and cradle as we mounted it into the car.
