data link question
data link question when getting the harness and ecm with a dropout motor does the engine harness have the DLC conector that goes under the dash for diag? this will be a 5.3 from a late model truck/suburban

The OBD plug is on the dash harness. Most likely it will not be included with the motor, at least I have not seen any yards include it. You might be able to get them to include it if you specifically make it part of the deal.
all obd2 connectors 96+ are same accross ford, chevy, dodge etc....you can grab one from anything.
Only 4 wires to make them work,
Batter 12v+
2 Grounds
Serial Data.
You can easily move pins around on the connector with just a small flat screwdriver, no special pin tools required.
Pin 2 - Class 2 Serial Data
Pin 4 & 5 - Grounds (one is actually PCM ground, and another is chassie ground) I usually tie both together to same place PCM is grounded to engine.
Pin 16 - 12v+ Battery
