Which sump is better? Hi there,
Which Sump is better the F-body sump or the LS2 sump?
This is for a stroked LS3 which am having made which will be going into a TVR Cerbera (English car) the reason I am asking is because only the LS2 or F-body sumps will fit in the space inside the engine bay and I need to make a choice of one or the other.
Now I cant see there being much of a difference between the two sumps they are the same basic size and capacity, but I can see that if the windage trays were different that is this could make a difference, but I don't know much about engines unlike most of yourselves on this forum.
So which one is better?

When it comes down to it.. what every fits better is the way to go.. The only real advantage is that the LS2 will have a full windage tray as compared to the F-Body, which only covers 3/4 of the bottom end. The front part of the LS2 pan is about 1/2" deeper and therefore allows the full windage tray. If the engine needs to set down lower, then the F-Body pan may give you some clearance around the pan and x-member if that is the area of contact.
