Gen 1 trans to LSx
Gen 1 trans to LSx I've looked through past posts and just want to double check.
I'm bolting a 2004r behind a '05 LQ4. It has the normal length LSx crank, not the earlier longer style.
From what I can gather, the crank is 0.400" shorter which creates the need for some sort of spacer. Now the converter will have the old style pilot, not the late model LSx pilot.
So I need both the Hughes pilot adapter and also a spacer to move the flexplate 0.400 towards the trans correct? The spacer will give me proper space between the flexplate and converter, while the pilot adapter will move the pilot farther forwards the trans giving support via the pilot back to the converter/crank.
Can anyone confirm this?

Check and see if the unit has a dished or straight flexplate on it.
If dished you can use the facotry gm spacer and bolts bolted on after the flexplate to accomplish your install, you may need to modify the bolt holes to work with your converter. If it has a straight plate you already should have the spacer.... With the straight plate the spacer goes on before the flexplate and everything should bolt up fine but may also require opening up the bolt holes a bit...
