part# block ID question
I'll be running a non-GM-based standalone, so original sensors aren't an issue if I don't need them.
So, when I pulled off the front timing cover, I found this (attached image) machined hole above the crankshaft.
What is it for? I searched for probably 4 hours, and I most LS-x pictures I've found do not have this hole. I could only imagine it to be some sort of cam/crank sensor. I imagine there will be no downfall to using a freeze plug, or to just bolt a blank in since I will be running the timing reference from a different source.
