Default need a lil advice?! PLS HELP!!!

My uncle gave me a 93' snb chevy truck with an anemic 6 cyl. and 5 speed tranny. I'm wantin' to keep it manual. Will the trans work with the ls motors, and what kind of things wld i have to change to get it to work if at all? Wld i be better off getting a t56. Also was wonderin' if i wld be better off carbin' the motor i.e. easier and cheaper?

pls help!!!!!!!!!

p.s. also wantin to do this on a tight budget, let me know!

I think you would be better off getting a T56.. but many have successfully used other older Manual transmission.. If you get a bell housing (Lakewood or McLeod) that will adapter to the LSx block and your transmission.. or use the correct extended pilot bearing, flywheel or spacer.

I am not the expert on the older trany swap.. but other will ping in on this.. they will be able to give you the correct parts.. just wanted to chim in on the Trany question and tell you it can be done.

Well It all depends how complete your engine is when you get it, I find it's best to buy a complete takeout with engine trans and such to assure you get the best possible deal for your money.
We carry a array of mounts for your conversion
Standard ls1 adapter plates to install the engine is the stock location:

1 Inch setback mounts (I suggest these for your conversion)

If you want to do a carb setup This is the intake you will need, This can get pretty expensive by the time you buy this and the carb for the conversion:

If You have any questions or need any help feel free to give us a call anytime.
Thanks

I would not recommend keeping the original 5 speed, as they don't live too well behind much horsepower.
I have a 5.3/T56 combo in a 1992 fullsize truck, and love it.
I bought a shifter relocater kit from keislerauto in Knoxville so I could use the shift hole in the floor.
You will also have to move the crossmember and shorten the driveshaft if you go with a T56.

You might also go with one of the tremec tko.
I don't know if this will fit the budget or not, but it is an option, and fwiw you end up spending a lot on the little things with a T56.
I found that out, but am still glad I have it as it is a blast to drive.

if your on a tight budget keep the trans for now and keep in mine you'll have to upgrade it later. as long as you don't beat on it hard and you won't blow it up right away. that's the same tranny I had in my 4.8 5spd with just odds and ends done to it but it was 4x4 which put more stress on it. I got 130k on the original clutch and trans then sold it and never had a issue. the truck now has 160k on it with 2 other owners and no issues. but I didn't beat it.
