yeah you cant use the rack. it relies on signals from the oem ecu, transmission and engine to operate. you may be able to bypass it but the 3rd gen manual rx7 rack drops right in so i just went with that. call jegs- its hard to find on the site.

Ahhh.....OK, yah too many pages to read I guess.

I've seen the top mount twin turbo kits melt wires & paint off of the hood. You're probably aware of this. Have there been upgrades in heat shielding that prevent this?

Default heat shielding

they make turbo blankets and you can get all of the pipes ceramic coated and use thermal wrap.....but i guess i will cross that bridge when i get there just taking it day by day...... just got threwdrilling all of the spot welds out of the front frame support that runs frome frame rail to frame rail....the one right in front of the radiator support....will have to reinforce it later just trying to make as much room as possible....will post pics tomorrow night

Are you keeping power steering?

If not, the 2nd/3rd Gen RX7 racks are basically interchangable, but the non power steering 2nd gen rack is smaller in diameter.

you may want to reconsider that mounting spot. ive worked with that steel alot in the rails and its only 16 gauge. notch the subframe and weld it to it. this frame rail steel will only take so much torquing and bending before it cracks and breaks. the stamped steel subframe is a much better option. it also makes it alot easier because you can lift the car off the subframe/ engine vs trying to stuff it in through the top. here is a pic that may help. btw im using that same cross member that you have. ditch the mounts and get the prothane ones they are cheap and much much better

Default mounting spot

you are taking the thoughts right out of my head. i am gonna mount it to the frame rails and the subframe. i know it is gonna be a pain in the rear but i will be droppin the motor in from the top instead of droppin the whole subframe assy. i am building this car inmy backyard under a carport
