I was wondering if anyone has attempted a 928 Porsche LS1 build
just curious cause ive seen a couple 911's

Thought about doing a prostreet LSX porsche but ran across my Datsun instead. Still in the back of my mind though. Those are pretty cool cars and I have seen plenty of them converted to SBC's.

My aunt and uncle had one years ago and that car out handle damn near anything but was way under powered

I have a 911 with a 430hp small block in it.Pretty cool car,handles awsome.With aluminum heads and intake it dosen't weigh any more tha a porshe turbo motor.It just pins you in the seats with zero tire spin unless you make it spin.

The 928 motor weighs 140lbs more than an LS1, so most of the 928 guys use an LT1, to keep the weight distribution the same.

Hot Rod magazine had pics of a 928 with Chevy V8 "Readers Ride" segment about a year or so ago.

Maybe just my silly common sense. But why wouldnt you just use an LS iron block. Or make the effort up front with chromoly and glass to bring the weight down?

Yes,any thing in particular you want to know about it just let me know. I have the motor back out of it doing some upgrades right now.The cutch I had in it would not hold the power from third gear on,so I am installing a clutch set up that will hold it.Parts should be here soon.I will try to post some pictures if you want after I get the motor back in .

have you got pics of the whole proces?? did you use a kit, if so which one?? how hard is the install??......

be nice to see a build thread for one of these conversions.

Chris,I dont have pictures of the install but I don't see why I can't take some for you.Like I said I have the motor and transaxle back out now anyway .My parts came from two different companys,looking back this was a mistake.This is part of the reason I have to go back and redo some things.If I were starting over I would use everything from Renegade hybrids,they are the class act of the v8 porshe scene.They have done it all with the best of engineering .I have done many different engine swaps over the years and I have to say this is not too bad compaired to some especially considering the spectacular results.There's actually lots more room in the engine compartment than many swaps I've done.I will make some pictures of the install then do a thread when I get it all together.This 911 will be for sale later this year as I just have too many projects!Let me know in the meantime any thing you want to know.

I woul'd rather not run any one down on public forum but I will let you know through pm.The trans is a 915 porshe which is supposed to hold around 500 h.p.

I understand. The transmission choice always seems to throw me on that conversion. The 915 seems to be not quite strong enough and the other options, 930, g50, etc. are very expensive.

Agreed, intentionally putting a lower powered engine in just because it is weavier....

That makes no sense at all!

If anything I would think they use LT1s because old small block mounting kits could be used.

Lighter and more powerful equals better...period!
