Are you referring to the 4.8 or the LS1?

Default 99 Wrangler dash

I pluged the oil and temp sensors into the LS1 and Novak adapter has a VSS connection. The only thing that doesn't work is the tach. I used an Auto Meter tach hooked up to the LS1 computer. You also need a Camaro 4l60e TCC/brake light switch to unlock the torque converter.

All other lights work on the dash running off the jeep computer.

Everything works good.

I will send a pic later.

since you cant use cruise control that the jeep comes with, you can use the 2 middle wires on the factory brake switch to power the tcc and brake power when you brake

Direct link Lokar? That was my first, pulled it out because it was interfering with other linkage. Now that I have the Novak TC shifter, it may fit, not sure.. Now I have the B&M megashifter and I HATE it. Worst purchase ever. It has that ratcheting mode crap in it that makes wheeling a huge PITA.

I think the next one will be an art carr cable shifter so I can build a console and mount the shifter to where I won't have to reach for it.

Anyone else using the Novak TC shifter? I love that it mounts to the drivetrain and does away with the mushy OEM Z gate stuff. So far so good with it.

JIMB, either motor

i talked to novak about a shifter like yours, they dont make one for a GM np231, just the jeep np231, so i am making a shifter modeled after the novak one, it is a great design. they said a month or so back they were thinking about making one for the gm, i guess i need to call back and ask about it again.

Hmm. I'll have to check out how the linkage is on the GM 231. Just assumed they were similar.

they are exactly the same, but the bolt pattern for the tranny adapter to transfercase is 5 bolt not 6 bolt. so the pattern that your bracket bolts to is different.

I used a pro stick in my YJ I sold, ground out the detents so I could go from low to reverse quickly...and they are fairly small.

Default 98 Wrangler

I had a Street Bandit shifter in my 67 Nova. Connected to a 700R trans. Much better than the Hammer because the lever is easier to grab.

A die grinder to the hammer shifter detents might help.

I pulled the 98 with the 4.8 into the work shop tonight and a 6.0 with a LS6 intake and small cam would be very cool.

I've driven the stock 6.0 for 3 weeks and it runs great. Something about the V8 sound in a Jeep.

The 98 deserves either the LS1 rebuilt or a 6.0 with a LS6 intake and small cam. 400 rear wheel HP would be alot of fun.

When I pull the 4.8, I would like to sell engine, trans, and transfer case together. I need to think about the price.

Regards,

Jim B
