Question 5.3 Fuel system question

Ok, I have searched and searched but I can not find the answer I need. I have an 02 5.3 from a silverado. It has 3/8 and 5/16" lines on the rail. I assume the 3/8 is the inlet and the 5/16 is the return, but I am not sure. Can anyone confirm??? I purchased the engine to swap into my 78 z28 and I plan on running an inline pump to feed it - do you put the filter before or after the inline pump? Thanks for the help!

You are correct, 3/8 is the feed, 5/16 is the return.

Filter normally goes after the pump, however you can run a filter before it. I run a pre-filter before the pump, and a corvette filter/regulator after the pump.

You may run into problems if you run an inline pump with your stock tank. Inline pumps are supposed to be used with sumpped/baffled tanks. It prevents the fuel from sloshing around too much and inadequate fuel pressure while cornering for example.

Default Homemade Tank Baffle

I did some searching around and found that tanks make a Walbro and a baffle unit to drop into an existing tank. However, since I already purchased the Walbro inline pump, I took your baffle advice and made my own. This baffle will still fit in my stock tank opening (barely) - you have to disassemble the fuel gage sending unit to get the float in, once you get the float in with the baffle, you have to reassemble it prior to placing the rest of the way in the tank. Hopefully this works, as it is the same idea that the Tanks part....what do you guys think??
