Default Rx7 owners, come in please ( need advice )

See my thought is.. I don't daily drive my ss, and i cant deal with a simply stock car, so i want a reliable car that I can count on. Currently I have a little 98 neon that looks sleeper as hell, i did a lot to this pos, 2.4 swap, internals, turboed, custom things out the ***.. and the list goes on as you guys hate me more and more but hell it was cheap to do this. I think I'm going to get rid of it.. after all the time and money i put into it ( roughly 5-6k ) i'd probably get like 4500 for it.. hopefully.

But I've been thinking of an rx7 with an ls1 of course. I think that would be reliable as hell. It would be great to find a blown up 93 rx7 for cheap but how cheap do these cars come? 5-10k? About how much do you have tied up into your rx7? Daily driven? On a budget or have money to spend? If you guys have any other suggestions that would be awesome. I like to do things that many people don't see a lot. Maybe i should be cruisen around in a geo putting money into the ss lol.

The rx7 swaps are awsome but finding a car thats not tons of $$$ is the trick.

If I had the time/money/skills I'd get a 87-93 mustang notch 4 cyclinder and do the lsx swap in it. Hell of alot cheaper than the rx7 plus there are so many after market companies supporting the mustang you can replace every part on the car.

Finding 3rd gen chassis (fd3s chassis code) for a reasonable price can be challenging and prices vary quite a bit. One thing I would suggest against is getting a cheap chassis with a crappy interior. The interior plastics were very cheaply made and are extremely expensive to replace. You might want to go over to v8rx7forum.com and do some research. You should be able to find answers to whatever you need.

3rd gen and cheap do not go together. 2nd gen and cheap do

My build is getting up there right now. But I'm being **** and spending money on the little details. If you can find a LS1/T56 combo with harness and PCM for a good price it will cut your costs down by a lot. If you don't mind having a salvaged title chassis that will help as well with price. But consider your resale value if you ever decide to sell your LS1 FD. The returns are very rewarding.

Im building an LSX FC (2nd gen 86-91) finding good condition FD (93-95 the C5 corvette ripped the design off) is challenging. The interior bits will nickel and dime you to death. dont worry about the exterior, it can be painted. trying piece together a crap interior is time consuming and expensive.

Find the car this will be the hard part. look for a car with under 80K that will be a nicer one for some reason 100K 3rd gen RX7 look like most cars do at 200K. I got my roller for a steal at 3K over 3 years ago. dont expect to find that now, I would expect to pay at least 5K for my same car and it was a parts car with no motor or trans.

I have about 20K in my car now and looking to put at least 5 more into it. If you want to go fast it cost money.

I lucked out and talked a local guy down from 11,500 to $6,900 for a 93rx7 with a brand new jdm TT motor installed and tuned by gotham. I'm having VA Speed build me a forged and blown ls7 and I can get $3K+ for the new rotory/trans pullout which will put me in good shape to finish the build.

+1 for the second gen RX being the more cost effective alternative. I just got mine on the road for $12k all in. I was fortunate with pricing on some things but didn't cut corners. 2002 LS1/T56, cammed, headers, full coilover suspension and new suspension bushings, wheels and tires. The roller was $1000 and I recouped all that selling stuff that was not needed.

LS1 in an RX7, I still think that's silly. RX7club.com might have some cheap FD3S's for sale with a blown motor. Check them out.

It's amazing how expensive these cars are back home and how cheap they are out here. I've bought two and only spent 8500. And i can't even sell the silver one for more than 1500. I'd love to be able to take her back and drop an ls1 in her. But importings a bitch.

I was in Iwakuni for about 5 months, I would see all modded out FC's going for under $3k. It made me want to cry, knowing that non running ones were going for over $5k back home.
