Is it worth the trouble? Ok so im doing an ls1 swap on my '79 silverado and i can't decide whether or not it would be worth the trouble to put the T56 in it since it is already set up for an automatic transmission. So my question is, is it worth the trouble to go from auto to manual? Thanks.

Thats my opinion anyway. I wish I'd never spent the $ to put a newer OD auto in my Buick (200-4r). Always wanted a manual, but went auto due to the conversion difficulty of a manual swap. Now I'm going T56 so the 1st swap was a waste of time and $.

+1. If you want a manual, put in a manual. If you want to keep the bench seat, the stock LS1 T56 won't work because the shifter is too far back, but you could do a TKO500 or a Keislet front-shift conversion.
same here just put a ls1 a4 in my 70 camaro and wanted a m6 and regret not doing..so now were gonna start on the 66 nova and for sure put a m6 in it..so yeah if a m6 is what you want do it cuz your not gonna be happy.

Ok i think I'll just go with the T56 because i think yall are right I've always wanted an m6 in it because i hate not having the control over how it behaves on the road, I don't think I'd be happy with anything else, and I'd end up doing the swap again later down the road. So might as well bite the bullet and do it now. Thanks.
np dont get me wrong i love my auto in my 98 and 70 but i just always wanted a m6 in the 70 and regret not doing it, but im an auto guy and like auto's better, but i just wish i would have done it in the 70..
