Default Adapting to a different radiator...

Hi All,

I bought a Jeg's double pass aluminum radiator for my LS-1 Maverick, but it has 1.50" top and 1.75" bottom connections. Will those size hoses collapse down enough to fit (and not leak) the smaller sizes (1.25" & 1.50") on the engine? What clamp should I use? If not, how would you make up the difference?

Thanks!

Russ

JTR now has transitional hose splicers that go from 1.25" to 1.50" and from 1.25" to 1.75"
They aren't on the website, but this link shows some heater hose splicers:

Thanks! I figured somebody would have them... Does anyone make a hose that necks down? I have pretty limited clearance on the lower hose.

Hey Russ, it's Roger (the Metro) from the Buick boards. We're too much alike, first a Buick powered hybrid, now an LS powered one. Still got the white S-10? You should put up a couple of picts to show your abilities.

That's the same radiator I'm planning on using. Let me know what you come up with. I'm doing a Volvo delivery donor car.

Hey Roger!

Yup, still got the S-10, it's not a daily driver but still gets out every now and then. Working in the oil industry, I had to give that rad a try. I've often thought a multi-pass would be the way to go... What year and model Volvo are you doing? DOH! Nevermind, se it in your Sig. Those look pretty cool, I had a '65 Amazon 122S with a blown 355" a few years back...

I have a similar setup, what will you be doing with the line off the throttle body?

I agree with the call on Jagsthatrun. I wound up calling them on the phone and telling them what I had and what I thought I needed. It was amazingly fast shipping to my house in Tennessee from California. They told me that they were getting a new CNC machine and would be able to make anything you need. Give them a call. I would not hesitate to use them again.

I bought a new griffin radiator for my s10 Lq4. The inlet and outlet were different sizes compared to the engine. So I went to napa and autozone and got flex hose with the different ends. I didn't think they would have them but they did and were cheap too.

If you have a welder you can insert one smaller pipe in the larger and weld it. I did it on mine and it worked great.
CALEBOT I connected mine to the overflow off the filler. It worked great.

Found these while "sniffing around" RockAuto.com's website:

Gates #23690 1 1/2 to 1 1/4 reducer fitting
Gates #23691 1 3/4 to 1 1/2 reducer fitting

Don't recall the prices, but each was less than $5.00!

I am trying to find the 1-1/2" to 1-1/4" reducer from gates, but for some reason I can't find it on rockauto or anywhere else?
