Help with "Buck" As some of you know I have a '66 Buick Special project car we're building for Fastest Street Car Magazine with a (carb'd and stock) LS2 GMPP crate motor in it. The builder of the car wants to stick the alternator up high on the driver's side. The car has no air, and no power steering so we don't need something impressive.
He's old-school and is not LS savvy (and hell, I'm not either).
I know there are pulley kits out there but I don't need new pulleys at this point in the project. I have consulted Madman who turned me onto Larry at SpeedInc. They have what I need, but I already have a Powermaster alternator, so while using the kit from SpeedInc would be cool (which includes the alternator) it really doesn't make a lot of sense at this point.
The bottom line is we are having a hard time finding a bracket for this thing. Does anyone make a custom mount or should we just use a C5 bracket and be done with it? I have also heard that you can yank one off of a truck and use it.

truck accessories I would run the truck accessories you'll need the water pump, crank pulley, tension er, alternator. It would probably be cheaper to buy all these then buy aftermarket brackets. I did the same thing. Good luck
run the c5 bracket or the truck, the truck bracket is huge, also houses the ps pump,
or locate the alt. to the pass side using the stock fbody bracket , or the alt. relocation brackets used on fbodies for truck manifold turbo builds.

FBody FEAD (Front Engine Accessory Drive) is very compact and easy to get. You can run the short-pulley water pump from the LS2/7 on the FBody FEAD if you pull the pump pulley forward about 3/8" and use a CTS-V belt tensioner with a couple washers between it and the pump casting.
we sell our alt only combo, I do understand that you are not wanting to spend alot..... but it's a option...
