Default vss question for lsx in 97 s10. abs sensor?

talked to waitmeporformance. he said i need a vss signal for the computer to work correctly, he said i might be able to use a abs sensor since i am disableing all abs and running straight brakes.

my question is, has anyone else done this and what has to be done, i know i need to know what type of signal the sensor outputs and what the computer needs to see.

if anyone knows anything about this, please chime in.

What kind of transmission are you using that doesn't have the VSS signal?

You can use a ABS sensor as a VSS. Both sensors put out a sine wave AC signal. You will just have to set the # of pulses per revolution in the computer. The PCM is looking for 40 pulses per rev of the driveshaft, but that number can be changed. I just don`t know how many pulses per rev your ABS sensors put out.

i have a built 700r4, it has a cable speedo output but i am going to put one of the coversion things on it to make it electronic for my VDO gauges.

think maybe i can use that? i will just have to match the pulse in the computer to the pulse from the output?

You can do it that way if you get the correct type of VSS. You need the two wire sender. The only problem with doing it that way comes when you try to tune the pcm for it. The last time I checked, EFI Live only went down to ten pulse, while HP Tuners went all the way to zero. The biggest pulse count you can get with the after market VSS is 4. Jagsthatrun makes a 40 pulse reluctor wheel that mounts to the front of the differential, and you use a gm sender for a 4WD truck. It works good, as long as you aren't planning on mud bogging the vehicle. I am making a lot of changes to my car, and will be removing the vss setup. If you're interested in it, I will makes you a deal on it.

Yes, it is called the VSS.

You will either need to get inventive with some kind of pulse generator, or just put a VSS in your 700R
