Those headers are freakin gorgeous! They oddly look like they may fit into my car. Wish they were a little cheaper haha

Great thread. I'm in progress of the same exact build, except mine may have a cam.

No problem guys!

About the cam: I stayed stock for the moment just because I'm sure what I want yet and I still want to paint the car, put on the bigger brakes, and finish the suspension, then I'll come back and worry about the power .

For a cam only I was thinking the TR230.
For heads and cam I was thinking a custom grind in the low 230x/23x .61x/.59x range by Predator Z and a TSP 5.3 heads package. I just want to see what the LS1 feels like in the car before I get crazy.

More updates soon!

Battery relocated:

Radiator mounts where made:

Other odds and ends like wiring where being tied up, also the plans for a custom gauge panel.

LEDs for the turn signals and high beams with my Autometer gauges.

These guys at Whodyautomotive are just top-notch and I cannot ask for anything more! Beauty!

I am amazed how you were able to clean that engine! Mine was just as dirty or dirtier...I tried using some brake cleaner and just had to give up

Hey! Thanks again for the part numbers on the exhaust and helping out with the gauges again, you saved me some headaches.

One of these days I gotta grill you about the Cobra rear however .

Thanks once again!

Build looks like it's going great. Brandon definitely knows his stuff.

That was one OLD picture of my engine bay.

If you're going with a Ford style shifter, look up MGW.

I work at JDM Engineering, I've probably put a couple hundred T56 Ford shifters in. There is absolutely no comparison between other brands and MGW. The boss is brand preferential and had always been a Pro 5.0 guy from his local supplier - I had a MGW in my Cobra but I'm not the type to say anything. Had a customer come in with a MGW in hand three years ago I want this installed.

Boss drove it afterward said holy **** did Pro 5.0 update their shifters or what. Told him what brand it was, we won't put in anything else. When you buy it and get it in the mail and take it out of the box and see the precision and time that went into the unit, you will be impressed. It's like someone that used to make Ferrari parts decided to make a Mustang part.

Sounds awesome.

Do the shifters have that "dog" leg effect? I know they just came out semi-recently for the F-body and I haven't seen much literature for them, a pointing in the right direction would make me thrilled.

In the Mustang, it's got the typical Mustang notch/bend. But since it is a tighten down to fit hold setup, you can rotate it 360 degrees.

So do you think the F-Body shifter will rotate?

I hear good things about this shifter, just not a lot here (mostly from the Mustang world).

yeah the F body shifter is relatively new. if the design is similar to their t56 for ford and viper sticks, it will be like that. their t45 shifter is like that also, I would assume they are all the style where the base and the bottom 1" are one assembly and then the handle is clamped onto that so the handle can rotate 360. would really help with a custom install.

I'm putting a camaro mgw t56 in my 98 cobra with my 2002 camaro ls1/t56 swap
