Default LSx cherokee

I have a 00 cherokee classic and we are tossing around the idea of a 5.3 in it. I have seen some 350 swaps but no LSx's. Just wondering if anyone had any input.

Would be pretty cool especially considering the weight of a cherokee. What would you do as far as drivetrain though, I think there may be an adapter for SBC to AW4 but I doubt that it would last long without dumping tons of cash into it. Swapping the complete drivetrain would probably be easiest, I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to keep gauges, etc. working. It would definitely move, I think the curb weight of a 4WD/ 4dr cherokee is about 3300 lbs. If you used an aluminum 5.3 it would likely weigh less than the I6 as well.

There is a guy putting one in an MJ http://naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=945920 not a typical swap though

I was thinking something like a 5.3 with a 4l60 with the stock rearend. My jeep is 2wd so I won't have to worry about that.

I am considering a 5.3/4L60e swap in my '89 XJ 4x4. I am just not sure if I want to use the GM NP261 transfer case or the Jeep NP231.
