Post 1992 Nissan 240sx - LM7 - T56Magnum (In-progress)

Im new here and new to engine swaps in general, so Im excited to join the community and share my journey!

Ive been working on my 240SX project for about two years now. I sourced an LM7 from a 2001 Suburban and had it rebuilt by my local machine shop. Initially, I planned to rebuild the engine myself, but I quickly realized I didnt have the skills or the time to learn them properly. Thankfully, the machine shop I worked with was incredibly helpfulthey walked me through every option and made the process painless.

For the transmission, I went with a T56 Magnum-F from Grannas Racing, and Ive been using Sikky for all my mounting hardware. Today, I finally figured out the parts I needed for the clutch setup (shoutout to @Project GatTagO !) and ordered an LS1 clutch kit along with the flywheel and slave cylinder.

Theres still a lot of work and learning ahead, but Im excited to keep making progress!

If anyone has suggestions on what I should prioritize next, Id really appreciate your input. Looking forward to learning from this community and sharing updates as I go!

I did not, I went with heavy duty LS1 clutch and flywheel . I read somewhere that the heavy duty is the ls7 clutch kit. Let me know what you think?

Fantastic! I assumed everything, clutch and flywheel was LS1 because it came out of a 2000 Camaro. I thought LS7 is 2006 and up.

Luk sells the LS7 clutch as an upgrade to the LS1/6 clutch.

I had an LS7 clutch in an old swap car, it was a great clutch with perfect street manners but held a bunch of N/A torque. Looking forward to your build.

Hey guys, working on installing my harmonic balancer. I got the pully on but wanted to get some feedback before I torque the crank bolt.

A bit late now, but the question was: how does one determine if the pully is all the way in, before starts torqueing the bolt. I just went ahead and torqued the bolt to spec, 34ftlb + ~140 degrees, but not feeling very confident with the degrees as I didnt get it exactly to my marker :S. Should I keep going to get it closer?

I think I messed up while trying to install the pilot bearing. It went a little crooked at first so I tried to fix it by tapping on that side. I then tried to hammer it in using a socket but it wouldnt go at all. I took it out and I can see and feel a small lip/groove on my crank am I screwed?

Get a new pilot bearing. They are inexpensive.

Hi Andrew,

Yeah, Im planning on getting a new pilot bearing. my concern is on that lip/groove on the crank. Should i be concern? Should i try to sand it out before I install a new pilot bearing or just ignore it?

I can't really tell exactly what's happening with the crank, but if there are any burrs, I would definitely use some emery cloth and knock the burrs down.
