The Jeep and dodge 2.5 liter 4-cylinder also uses the GM 60 degree bellhousing pattern.
I have about 4 or 5 bellhousings for T5s and Saginaws that would also work. But I want to run the AR5.
So since Jeep and Dodge use the Aisin AX-15 which is the sister transmission to the AR5 and the Toyota R154, the Dodge Dakota 2.5 liter bellhousing allows the motor and transmission to be bolted together without adapters
The original starter pocket location is where I will be locating the starter with a custom mounting plate
The Jeep bellhousing is also large enough to run a 153 tooth flywheel vs the normal LS4 142 tooth. jeep/dodge uses a 148 tooth flywheel like GM did on the RWD 60 degree engines
perfect location for a laser cut sandwich plate that will act as a block scatter shield, a spacer, and most importantly, a surface to bolt a ford style starter.
since the aftermarket mini starters for ford, GM, etc all have the same motor and gear head, and only differ from the mounting flange.....enter in a SBC starter without the mounting flange . now I just need to make a mini version of the ford mounting flange to mount it to the piece of 4mm steel plate.
