power antenna question

power antenna question The power antenna on my wife's '99 TA 'vert doesn't work. I'm supposed to buy one from a friends LS1 ttop TA... will it bolt-in? I'm assuming I can probably make it work somehow but wasn't sure what to expect... wasn't sure if 'vert had a different power antenna setup than the regular coupes. Please let me know.

Well, I installed it last weekend. It was a power antenna out of a '98 ttop Trans Am and I put it in my wife's '99 Trans Am convertible.
There was one main difference... the mast housing and how it mounts to the sheet metal was completely different. Our factory '99 'vert one had a rubber grommet that fit in the sheet metal and then the mast of the antenna just fit snug into it. The one out of the '98 apparently has a bezel that fit on the sheet metal and/or threaded onto the mast housing. Luckily (after some cussing) I discovered that you could remove 2 screws and remove the top mast housing (pot metal or aluminum piece) and I just swapped those out... then it all bolted in and worked perfect!
