Default Convertible top cleaning tip

I'm new, but thought I would share something that worked well for me. Recently (6 months ago) bought a 97 30th Anv.Edition SS Convertible. Thought I would probably have to replace the white top. It was in good shape, just dirty. Tried everything suggested on various forums....top cleaners, prestone interior carpet cleaner etc. Although they worked and the top looked noticably better, it still wasn't clean enough for me.
Was at the store shopping and was looking for something else when I ran across a new product, Mr. Clean "Magic Erasers". Bought a box and tried them when I got home. Simply get wet, squeeze out , and make a circular motion on the top while applying pressure.
UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! So easy and could see the dirt lift off into the eraser as I did it. Very little effort required. Whole top took less than 15 minutes. First two photos show a strip on the rear that I did not use the eraser on. Next two photos showing the top portion completely cleaned..last photo shows comparison of that same area after using other products (dirty half), and the Mr. Clean eraser (clean half). Top looks almost new. Just thought I would share and hopefully contribute to this forum.
Not sure you should use on fabric tops...mine is a smoother grain type vinyl.
P.S. Works great on countertop stubborn stains...hardly have to rub and out they come....impress your wife or girlfriend with your domestic skills...lol.

Pyro...think you'll be amazed. I'm assuming you have the same white top I do. In my photos the dirty section was the way the top looked after cleaning with other products. It did look alot better than when I bought the car. Would have passed for a fairly clean top.
However when I used the eraser, the top was like brand new...took the remaining dirt out of the top grain in the vinyl. Even if yours is fairly clean, I think you see an immediate difference.

Yea mine has a white top. It's not the original though, it's been on for about 16 months or so but I couldn't keep it as clean as I would like. I have some spots that I couldn't clean off with the 303 top cleaner so maybe the eraser will help.

Okay, I did some searching on this to see how damaging it could be. Looks like fabric top guys SHOULD NOT USE THIS.

I'm going to give this a shot though, sounds like it works well for the stuff it doesn't dissolve.

Mentioned above that I was not sure you should use on a fabric top. It's abrasive in the sense it like a soft sponge flaking off or compressing down and absorbing the grime. Almost feels like the stuff they now use for matress pads that form fits to your body.
Will do an incredible job on a smooth vinyl top, especially lighter colored ones that have accumulated some dirt, etc over time. You won't believe the difference. The first place you rub will make the rest of the top look even dirtier than it was.
