Do I need an 11' wide wheel to get traction
Do I need wider rears or will a better say 295 rear work on my stock rims??
These are my thoughts
1. Z06 motorsport 19 x 8.5 in front and 20 x 11 in back with a magnacharger and new hood or just a procharger
2. The HRE 3 piece forged wheel in same size, cam, Fast intake, and a 100 wet shot of nitrous
3. Z06 motorsports in that size with an LG hood and the cam, FAST, and wet kit.
Or maybe just stay with the stock wheels for a while and go through a set of better tires and do the procharger.
But my car only gets about 5-6K miles a year
Forget 19" or 20" rims too HEAVY and will slow you down. Each 10 lbs extra in rotating wt is almost 100 hp loss, and close to 1/2 sec slower in the quarter
Traction is based on grip. Grip comes from NEW sticky tires. Nitto makes a very good sticky tire.
If your tires are over 2 years old sell them to someone else and get ride of them, tread depth has nothing to do with traction. Rubber, NEW stick rubber gives traction.
If your looking for new wheels go with CCW. CCWheel.com must less expesive then HRE.
Z06 motorsports are OK aftermarket wheels but they are also heavy
For performance stick with 18" wheels all around. This bring the rotating mass of the rim closer to the hub. Where as 19-or 20" moves that wt away from the center of the hub or center of rotation
For each extra lb of rotating wt is like adding an extra 6 1/2 lbs to your car. so the lighter the wheels the better.
Good Luck
