Are C5 rear diffs the same as a 05 C6 rear diff?
Are C5 rear diffs the same as a 05 C6 rear diff? I need to upgrade my rear differential in my 2000 C5. Just trying to make sure i'm looking at all possibilities. I have a 2005 C6 M6 transmission in my car now since it has many factory upgrades in the car now. So i know it has to bolt up directly to the rear but is the mounting/shape/dimensions the same on a 05 C6 rear differential to a C5 differential? I know the 06 up rear diffs are different than the 05 C6s and C5's. I know you can change the rear cradle to a 06 up rear cross member and put like a 06 up C6 transmission and rear diff in that has more supports on the side but i'm not looking to do that at this time. I've emailed RPM but didnt get a response yet. They may be out for the holidays or just busy. So anyone please chime in that knows for sure or has input of the 05 C6 and 97-04 C5 rear differentials are the same/different or whichever. Hell even if its a matter of drilling a hole or slight modification i may do it. Thanks for your time.

Not sure why you would use a C6 2005 differential, as they were the same as the C5's.
If you're looking to upgrade why not go with C5 Z06 (2002 -2004) differential with 3 rib case and shot peened gears.

Well there is a RPM built C6 rear for sale on the one forum. I figured it if was the same as my C5 rear then why not buy it. Its the same a built C5 rear? I'd like a 3rib built rear but havne't found one for sale with 4.10s or 3.90s.
Why not find a used Z06 rear or contact RPM to send in your's as a core and upgrade to 4.10 gears and a 3 rib case. I think the cost of a 3 rib case is around $500.
