Default FRC Corvette?

I know I probably sound dumb, but I was wondering what is the difference in the FCR vette and just the normal vette?

Yeah the difference is that if you get one everyone will assume that you wanted a z06 but couldn't afford it

insurence was 175 a month full coverage on an 02 zo6 i was looking at.

insurence is 70 a month full coverage on my 00 FRC.

plus my FRC was fully loaded with hud and cheaper..

not point in going z06 for me. the 50 extra hp will be made up with a new motor anyway

I do like the rear brake vents/scoops though. still thinking about doing that on my FRC

OP,

FRC was made in 99-00. ZO6 was made in 01-04. same body excect the FRC had the normal 350hp ls1 that the coupes got and the Z06 got the 405hp ls6.

Frc came with
Z51 suspension only
6 speed tranny
Base seats
Black interior

You could order options such as
Bose
Active handling
HUD

And yes the FRC was stiffer and it wasn't glued like the C6. I should know I've had 8 C5's and 1 was a Z06 and my current FRC the rest were coupes.
Here is mine

Because GM made all C5 frames the same and didn't choose the FRC to become the Z06 because it was stiffer.... right.

Believe what you want, but I'll believe GM engineering over some guy on a forum.

Corvette Torsional:
-Depending on the source, the Coupe is 22 or 23 Hz with the top on and 20.5 or 21 Hz with the top off
-Z06 is 24 Hz
-Convertible is 20 Hz

Why does the Z06 have a stiffer frame, is it the fixed roof? No, the fixed roof is just a glued on piece of plastic. It has the vert frame bracing added to the coupe frame

Your right it is just glued on the windshield but I was right it is the stiffest C5.

So the FRC and Z06 weigh the same?

Also.. I thought the FRC's came with the rear brake vents? I thought the body was the exact same except for the Z06 badges on it?

Nope no rear brake vents or fog light screens. Depending on the way they are equipped it should be pretty close in weight. FRC come with tire pressure sensors and Z06's don't.

All Frc are Z51 cars so they are close in handling to the Z06 but slightly softer. Also FRC came with the awful runflat tires and 17x8.5 and 18x9.5 whees. Z06 had non run flats and 17x9.5 and 18x10.5 for better handling.

Hmm..

So how hard is it to get the brake ducts put on an FRC?

And is the body the same? Still have the wider body than the normal C5?

Actually it has the same body as a normal C5 vert just with a hardtop. I've never done the brake ducts but know of a few people that have. You just have to properly measure them out. There are a few templates out there also.

I thought the Z06 had a wider body than the base coupe does..

And does the FRC and Z06 have the flared fenders?
