Random question about the C6 shifter...
That I just thought of. I'm a big Corvette lover (been that way since I was 12-13), but one downfall that I was very aware of on the C4s and C5s that I've driven was the 6spd shifter. It feels big and cluny, and the throws are just about as long as the ones on a 94-04 Mustang. Which is pretty long. Since I haven't gotten the chance to drive any C6s yet, has there been a noticeable change in the operation? In pictures it looks like a shorter stick, but looks can be deceiving. Thanks.

It's a bit more than a little flick of the wrist... that's the shifter on my S2000. The Vette shift is quite long. How much does a short-shifter impact that?

It's been a while since I drove a S2000, but I recall that it was nicer than the 08 vette. The shift qualities of the 2008-09 vette are shorter and smoother than the 2005 - 07 and are pretty good for a mass market car with high HP. That said, a number of guys go with the MGW shifter which shortens the throw 30% and is a bit firmer.
Unlike the stock shifter in a 1998 - 2002 Camaro which felt long enough to be on a Peterbuilt and needed to be replaced as the car's first mod, the stock 08-09 vette shifter is good enough that it might get replaced, but IMO it is not critcal.
