Since your car is an A4 the following would be a good start:
1. 3200 stall converter
2. 3.42 gears
3. CAI
4. Longtubes
5. Catback of some kind
6. Tune
Then when you get bored with that, put a cam in it, do heads/cam, or go nitrous or FI.

I would recommend:
1.) 3600 Stall
2.) FAST 92 Intake w/ LS2 Throttle Body
3.) 3.73 Gears
4.) Underdrive pully
5.) Blackwing Filter set up
6.) 1-7/8 Kooks Headers
7.) Dual Tip Borla Stinger Exhaust - Cat delete.
8.) 100 Shot - Wet Kit, MSD controller, WOT switch, Heater, etc.
9.) Solid Tune
After you blow the motor and trans.... (It will happen at some point) Go ahead and do the same mods on a Forged 408 Stroker with a healthy Cam. Throw in a set of TF 225 heads and go ahead and get the tranny built to Stage 5 specs. While the intake is out drop it off to be hard plumbed for a direct port 200 shot. Now at this point you may as well get a built Diff.
By the time all of this is done, you will have spent an additional $20K on a car that you paid $17K for to begin with.
