I have the Vararam, but you have to be extremely careful of standing water with this thing. I didn't care because mine is not a daily driver and I rarely if ever take it out if there's a hint of bad weather. Calloway, like Jeff said, makes a good intake.

With the Kooks headers and catted X-pipe, 160 degree T-stat, Vararam and NGK TR55s, the car put down 494.04whp and 472.08wtq SAE in 100 degree heat and 30% humidity (1.02 CF, 100.79 deg F, 30% RH)

My beast:

First off, your car is beautiful. I absolutely love the Z06, it is the car that "i will have someday", if you know what i mean.
Second, you did some nice things. Like ur taste.

MY questions is this... with the addition of headers, CAI, and a tune (the plugs and all are almost irrelevant) has the Z)^ putting down nearly 500rwhp????? Thats a gain of what, 70rwhp or so over stock?? Jesus, these things must react to mods like crazy.

what are guys putting down with cam\headers\etc?? And do people do anything with the heads? I ask because from my understanding the LS7 head is one of the best street heads there is.

full bolt on's less the heads (cam only, cai, headers, x-pipe) and of course tune netted me 550 whp and 500 ft/tq.

All mods on a Z respond great!!! The prices to mod a Z is a bit more though!!!!!

Like they all say "You have to pay to play"

550rwhp with cam\headers?? damn. Thats awesome.

How much more are the headers and cam kit for a Z??
i would imagine that however much more money it costs, it is still not as bad as having to buy new ported and polished heads like with an ls1,2,6 and a Fast intake.

headers/xpipe are about 1700.00
cam kit is about 800.00

nice set of ls7 heads runs about 2500-3500

(Install price not included) - Vince is right...

Thanks.

And, yes, with headers, CAI, thermostat and tune, depending on the location of the car and the weather conditions, I've seen as high as ~505 rwhp SAE. I saw one car put down close to 500 without the headers. But I've also seen as low as 470 (higher altitude). I guess it depends on how aggressive the tuner gets. Mine is still somewhat conservative. I could port the throttle body and put it over 500 if I wanted, but I will wait and do that the same time as the cam, although my cam choice will probably only net about 530rwhp. That's fine. I can live with ~600 at the flywheel.

The prices Jeff is quoting don't include install, so check with your local shops. My headers and catted X were around $2200 installed (and that included labot on the tunnel plate). Lifetime tune was $500. Vararam was around $500. 160 degree T-stat install and the labor to install the shifter was a little over $200. Tunnel plate with thermal abs went on the same time as the headers and X-pipe since it was down anyway.

So all told I have about $3500 in go fast goodies that netted me 60rwhp and 70rwtq over my stock baseline. I could add a cam kit for another $1400 installed. These LS7s respond very well to just bolt-ons, though.

PLEASE TELL ME IM NOT AN IDIOT!

So, I made a comment to a buddy who owns a really nice LSX SHOP (no names)....

I told him about my car I bought and he replied, "sounds like you bought someones track car, you know you could have engine failure becuase of the sticky tires that were on the car"...

ALL I can think about is my LS7 failing.....

The car looks perfect but I understand what he's saying, does this mean I should build the LS7 ASAP?

WTF. I'm scared...someone calm me down!!! Someone tell me I bought I nice car...

To be honest it looks like iot was used as a track car. What guy puts Penske shocks on a street car unless they also use it at the track. Easiest way to check is look for rock chips from sticky tires and check for rubber in the fender well. I hope it works out for you.

I just bought a 07 silver.

My mods will be an intake then later she will get headers ect. I loke the dive ability with the power right now too much to risk fing it up with mods...

Pic...

If you were planning to do the same thing to the car, doesn't really matter, does it? If it was going to blow up, you would have blown it up yourself, right? That's a risk you take when you mod it.

And maybe he planned to track it but never got the chance. Never know. Take the VIN and check the service history at your local dealer. Also check the engine build number to see if it's the original engine.

Ya, I have been drilling the dealer who has the car all day....

I have asked them ALL the right questions....They have a corvette guy there and he said there is no rubbing and it is perfect underneath....

BUT I noticed that the carpet was coming up next to the trim near the shifter on the drivers said? What and why is that up....WTF

I just made him send more photo's... The engine looks very clean! Whatever, I already bought it

Carpet coming up near the console is pretty common. Mine is doing it. Console heat. You'll feel it, don't worry. And don't put any electronics or candy bars in the center console unless you want them destroyed.

I put in a thermal-abs tunnel plate from Elite Engineering. It cut down on console heat quite a bit.

OMG, thank you so much! I was so thinking that someone pulled some wires or hardware or NOS switch out of the car! I am killing myself, I can't wait to see it... The tires are roasted, OF COURSE!

Can't speak for the Mich (I'm assuming PS2s?), but I am running on Invos and love them for the street. When I get a different set of wheels for track use, I haven't decided if I will use Nitto NT-05s or just go straight to the Hoosiers.

The PS2s are supposedly pretty good tires, too, but they are pricey.

Whatever the $500 ones are.....Sport Cups!

Vince, It seeems you will need to take a trip to come visit me soon so I can see the INVO's in action before I buy the Michs....

BTW GUYS! I drilled the dealership and THEY CLAIM this was someones baby and I hit the JACKPOT! No rubber or rubbing in wells and no scratchs on the front bumper! I really think I bought someons 3rd car (toy) and they upgraded to a newer Z or ZR1.

I guess I will find out Saturday!

QUESTION: I am having a car show for the National Food Bank on Saturday! Should I have it dropped off at my car show? or is that a bad image?

You bought that black one near me in Miami right?

Yes, having a Z06 dropped off for a food bank fund raiser will look cheesy.

Dude be proud that you can afford such a car. I was like you when I got mine. I was trying really hard not to let people thing I was rubbing it in ther face but you have nothing to be assamed off.

I would have it dropped off at home though just in case there is some thing strange about it so you don't freak out in front of a crowd...

Either one of the 2 is going to happen:

A. I hit the Jackpot B. I bought someones track car
