Wish I could answer you last question, but I can't. I have a BPP Vortex.
I'm not familiar with the Vararam at all. I just used a search engine and found the the link to Performance Intl. and inserted the K&N filter # given by tony99vette.
My thought is that if Vararam says that you will need a certain housing, they should know what housing that would be.

At some point in the past, Vararam would sell you a K&N filter that would fit the Vararam (I have one of their K&N filters), but I'm not sure if they sell them now. The K&N they sell has the 'edge' taken off and has their 'foam' around the filter so as to create a seal when the K&N is mounted in the vararam.
I've not heard of a 'tray' or anything that would make a normal K&N filter fit. I'd be really interested in that, if it did exist.
