Default reduced engine power?

i've got a problem here. while on the highway in 4th gear at about 4k rpm i went wot and then immediately rpms dropped to about 1800 and the screen said reduced engine power. i had to putt it home with it not letting me above 1800rpm. Even in neutral it stayed around 1300 to 1500. I checked the code and it was p1514. TAC maf performance. My maf has been descreened and gutted thanks to my dumb *** friend talking me into it. It was then dyno tuned due to it having a crappy idle and inconsistent performance. The tune was done 3 months ago, it has been fine until now. Do i need a new maf? Any help appreciated.

That would be a good place to start. Mine thru the 1214 from a leak in the intake, but that doesn't sound like your issue. Good luck with finding the problem.

Disconnect the negative lead from your battery, pull the maf and clean it with some MAF/electronics cleaner. The battery being disconnected for a little while should reset your PCM. You may very well need a new maf since yours was gutted, possible its throwing off the pcm. You should be able to pick up a used un-molested MAF cheap around here.

I looked at the maf and it was ok. Then i disconnected the battery, hooked it backup and now it runs fine! I'm thinking i need a stock maf though to prevent it from doing this again.

I had the same problem at one time. It was the plug connection to the mass air sensor.
