Default 97 c5 m6

Hey everyone. I've got a bead on a good looking 97 C5 w/only 40k on it. Being that this is the first year of the C5 generation, is there anything I should be wary of for the 97's? I've done some searching and can't find anything specific to 97's. I've read the FAQ sticky and I'll looking out for all that stuff too. Thanks.

Perimeter bolt heads, pain in the *** when you upgrade to 243's or any aftermarket because you need extra parts you normally wouldn't. Also the PCM is different, not a huge deal.

Thanks for the info, but I'm in California (can't really mod that much due to smog). I was hoping to get some info about some problem areas that I need to be aware of if I decide to buy this thing. Thanks again.

I have a 98 and I simply love it. No major problems knock on wood. I keep it well maintained and clean. Few mods on the car, but nothing that is against the rules here in California. B&B quad tip bullet exhaust, Callaway Honker CAI and a LS6 intake manifold upgrade. Noticeable difference so far, but I will soon add some 243 heads I picked up. Might even change the cam, but I'll keep it within smog parameters. Appearance wise I upgraded the wheels and tires. Over all I am very satisfied with the car.

What plans do you have for your 97? Jorge

I wouldn't worry about the perimeter bolt heads, all you need is new valve covers, which are cheap used anyways.

They say the connecting rod bolts are weaker, though I have a 450na 575 hp N20 stock 97 short block car. 0-25K miles stock, 25K-45K h/c/n20.

Nothing really different though.
