Default Which C5 to get?

I have been thinking of getting a 1999 or 2000 C5 in the spring and I wanted to get your guys opinions should I go with a coupe(targatop) or a hardtop I want one with a m6 and with low miles like about 20k or so how about what would it cost. I have a 2001 ss camaro now it's a m6 with 25k loaded and has headers cat back and all slp options what should I be able to get for that when I sell it in the spring? Thanks for any input

I would go with a 1999 or 2000 hardtop. It will weigh a little less than the coupe and be a hair stiffer. The 2000 would have nicer wheels (hate the wagon wheels on the '97-99's), but that's really about it. With the C6 coming out this spring C5 prices will likely drop. How much is anyone's guess, but I would say that you're going to be looking in the $18-21k range. Hardtops can be hard to find, so you may decide to settle on a coupe. The coupe will cost a little more and will add about 50-100lbs depending on options and give away 1Hz in chassis stiffness. Look for the Z51 option and any others you desire (HUD and sport seats are good ones). Moving up to the '01 model will gain you the LS6 intake, bigger MAF, and a slightly better active handling system. Depending on the price difference this might be a better choice (keep in mind everything but the active handling upgrade can be added to an earlier car for about a grand).

As to what your SS is worth, I really can't say. I would guess high teens at the very least. Good luck on your purchase.

In reality there will be around a $10,000 difference between what yours will sell for(NOT ASKING PRICE) and a C5 w/ same low miles, year, and condition as your SS.

CAR PRICES ARE VERY SOFT RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SS....should sell for $18K
2001 Vette..........$28K

Get a '99 FRC w/ 30K miles for around $24K

Auto's bring less money in the used market.

They only made 4000 hartops in 99 and 2000 in 00..not an easy car 2 find..six speed coup with the Z51 performance handling is the way 2 go..big difference in the way the car handles..check the order codes on the glove box door for the build codes on the car ur looking at.

...if possible consider a 2001, there were significant upgrades to 2001 over 99-2000, not just motor but other suttle changes that added to overall quality.
