Corvettes w/ 402 iron block need input
I do like all the pluses the aluminum brings running cooler, lighter, etc etc but those of you who have an iron block in your Corvettes let me know good, bad or indifferent. This would be my first 402 iron block for personal use.
Am thinking pushing a 300 shot through her.
thanks for the input.

I talked to my tuner and we talked and I think I am going to wait the iron block is going to throw my 50/50 off which i knew but I am also going to have to redo my whole cooling system since they run hotter and the Corvette's is constructed for the aluminum blocks. Man but i am going to take your info and tuck it away. I think I'll pick up an LS2 and punch it out to a 402 get forged internals and set it up for a 300 shot. I know that the right set up can hold the shot. **** and i was dreaming but I really don't want to set up my car for a straight line runner only. If I wanted that i would have gotten an F-body
I new stick is in order.
I'm assuming the motor you speak of is an lq4 or lq9?
The weight diff between that and an ls1/6 is only 60 lbs(ls1 110lbs, lq4 170)
im sure your exhaust has already saved you half that and a lighter or relocated battery would make up the rest.
As for cooling, your stock cooling system should be adequate, atleast i havent heard of any solid examples of it not being.
