Default C5 Z06 bolt on questions

Hey guys I sold my GTO because I wasnt liking the car payment..well I now got a decent paying job, and am looking into possibly getting a C5 Z06. From what im seeing a good set of headers, air intake, and tune should be close to 385rwhp in a 02+ Z06..
Is it just me, or am i not finding any z06's in the dyno section with a bigger rocker arm (1.8's). Is it because the springs cant handle it? I did notice the 02+ Z06 cam has .550 lift, and if i remember right ls6 springs are rated for up to a .550 lift? Or is there another reason, maybe Im failing at searching?
I would like to see what an 02+ newer Z06 puts down with a good set of 1 7/8" headers, a vararam cai, and 1.8 rockers..I would think 400+ rwhp with a tune?
Guys with headers, how hard was the install? I read something about possibly having to jack the motor up a little?

no real point of changing the rocker arm ratio with the vast amount of aftermarket cams available. small/medium cam, intake filter, exhaust with tune neted my 02 Z 409whp and 378wtq

I dont want to do a cam swap again, i dont want to pay someone to do it, and honestly I'd rather not do it by myself. Last time i had a friend help me, and now hes going to afghan land..I can handle bolt ons, so thats what im going to do.

how were your headers to install?

If anyone wants to know I will be catless.

my buddy dynoed his 03 z06 with LG pro long tubes-1 3/4", orxp, corsa catback, 1.8 rockers, Vararam intake and tune. Car made 400rwhp on a mustang dyno. Car runs great, well before he did the procharger.

Yeah, they are rated for .550 lift. Add 1.8 rockers and it becomes .582.

Because bigger rocker arms aren't worth the money. LS6 head flow changes from 256 to 257cfm by increasing from .550 lift to .600 lift. For it to work, you'll have to buy rocker arms, pushrods, and springs, and then you'll have 2HP more than you started with.

hes right changing rockers arent worth it. And frankly if one isnt careful and changing its associated parts while doing so...you could get valve float under high load...stick with the stock 1.7's. Even if you decided to be crazy and slap on a FAST w/o haning internals you may only see 10-15rwhp gain bc long and short of it is the stock cam is nowhere big enough to take advantage of it. Thats the kinda power youll have w/o goin internal......or FI

I put in FLP headers and they went in pretty easily. Just had to unbolt the steering knuckle, remove coils and valve covers and then they slid in from the top. As for the rockers I wouldn't bother with the 1.8's. If you just want bolt-ons I would go with some LG pro's, ORX, vararam CAI, tune, and maybe an EWP if you're really trying to squeeze out every ounce of power from bolt-ons. I would say do an UD pulley too but you have to pull the steering rack to get to it and if you're doing that you might as well do a cam IMO. Stock mufflers are very good for just bolt-ons as far as not being a big restriction. Get into the H/C/I mods and then cutouts or better mufflers would be a benefit but not huge.

Mine put down 390rwhp (non-corrected) with LTs + CAI + no tune. Looking for 400+ rwhp corrected after cam install + tune.

My car put down 383rwhp uncorrected on a dynodynamics with OBX LTs + K&N intake, ported TB and a tune. LG Headers are some of the easiest to install. It took my friend 8 hours at his house to do them and he isn't that good of a mechanic.

i have an 01ZO6 that dynoed low stock...it runs its *** of tho and there isnt a thing wrong with it. After headers and exhaust alone she gained 24rwhp and 24tq. After a tune she gained a total of 42rwhp and 40tq! Laid out 362rwhp 360tq ot bad at all considering it doesnt factor in vararam....already have my timing chain, oil pump and UD pulley. Ordering the cam in a few weeks. Hope to pull 420+

My Kooks 1 7/8 LT's go on fairly easy on my C5Z06. WAAAYYYYYY easier than the Kooks install on my 06 GTO = PITA!!!!! A cam swap is just the opposite as the GTO is fairly easy and the C5Z is a PITA!! I would stick with the stock 1.7 rockers Save your $$$ and buy a decient cam. You can complete the swap yourself but take your time. Its not a quick task by any means. If you install your own cam or have a performance shop do it for you spend another $200 and get the 2 piece timing cover. This way if you decided to go to a differnet cam down the road, the swap will be fairly easy! (Wish i wouldve gotten a 2 piece now!!!)

wow i just took a look at your sig and that is the EXACT cam (even LSA) im going with. Those a really impressive numbers. Even if you still had the LS6 intake you would still be around 430ish..but im mainly impressed by the tq! I was hoping to be around there. interesting.

I'm hoping for similar numbers whenever I get to a dyno. My cam has a hair less duration but more lift plus I'm running AFR heads but with a worse LT/exhaust setup. I'll be happy if I make 450+/410+.
