Default c5 zo6 bolt on questions

Hey guys im in the market to get a c5 zo6. Long story short i found one wrecked so the motor will be coming out to get the frame straightened out. I have a few quick questions. Im looking to get a good seat of long tube headers have it narrowed down to ARH and LG along with a catted x pipe (not sure of a brand) and a B and B bullet exhaust. My question is what are you guys doing to mod the intake side of things. Will a good CAI be sufficient for a full exhaust only car or will I need to upgrade the throttle body as well? What brands of CAI's are you guys using. Pretty much tell me what are good mild bolt ons to do while the engine is out. Thanks.

Vara ram (spelling?) seems to be pretty good. I bought one for my coupe but went with a kenne bell so I didn't need it. Those two brands of headers seem good too.

Ok good to hear guys. Any of you also upgrade to the v ram powerduct? I was looking at the breathless performance ones but they seem a bit pricey ($330) for just a carbon fiber duct.

Is that where they just put a piece of mesh where the "corvette" license frame is? If that's the whole application you can do that way cheaper. But it may be more to it or I'm thinking of something else.

The LS6 intake out-flows LS6 heads. So leave the manifold alone. I have a Vararam on my car and love it. After letting the computer learn it for about 20 minutes I started punching it around 60MPH+ and you can feel the difference. It's quite an amazing difference actually. From a dig, there's not much difference. The stock air box gets it's air from 4 tiny air tunnels, so ANYTHING is better than stock. I used to have a Vortex Rammer on my 02Z and it was decent, but NOTHING compared to the Vararam I have on my 03Z.

On our C5Z, we installed a number of Bolt-Ons. As for headers, we opted for 1 7/8" ARHs. Contrary to popular belief, we did not lose anything down low. We installed a Vararam . (Halltech makes an excellent product also.) Most importantly, we had a good tune. The addition of 4.10s was very helpful as well as an aftermarket clutch. These mods allowed us to achieve of goals.
Good Luck and let us know how you make out.

Stock TB will be fine unless youre doing a big heads/cam motor.

Intake, its all personal preference. Some people like certain designs over others. Best thing to do would be to read up and get what fits your price point best.

Also I have the Kook's 1-7/8" LT's on my car. If I could do it over again, I would get 1-3/4" just because theyre much easier to install.

Vararam is by far the best cold air intake for the C5 and I'd recommend 1.875" headers as well for the most power. American Racing Headers are much easier to install than Kooks and I'm not saying that just because we are a dealer. Let me know if you would like a quote though. Chris, 817-750-2000

Running 1 7/8" ARHs + Halltech. If I had to do it over again I'd get the same headers but just do the zip-tie method for a CAI. I think most of them are a joke.

Don't touch the TB. If the motor has to come out throw in a cam. It will give you the most bang for buck.

A pain in the ***. Some people remove the fascia to make it easier. Took me 3 hours to install. For some people it takes longer. I've heard some people have done it so many times that it only takes them 30-60 min.

Either way, it sucks. But I'd do it again because the performance is well worth it.
