Just a thought but what if you did some slight mods to a corvette that already can do low 30 mpg on the highway? My friend has an 03 zo6 and he has gotten 33mpg highway at around 70mph. I was thinking, what if we put a 275 gear in a already super light z06,then some typical bolt ones like headers and intake stuff maybe a smaller crank pulley. Could a light vette do high 30mpgs?

One might even consider using a coupe/targa top manual C5 instead as it is even more aerodynamic than the C5 Z06/FRC body, though the coupes tend to weigh a little more as well.
Or for that matter, go with the even more aero C6 coupe.
