headlights are grinding.. how can I fix this? please help
headlights are grinding.. how can I fix this? please help the pop up lights in my c5 go up and go down fast and smoothly.. except when I turn the headlights off and the lights go down, I continue to hear a loud grinding noise for around4-5 seconds.
do I need to replace the gears? or what can I do to make it stop?

There stripping when there making that noise, won't be long before they won't open or close. Your at the " your being warned" phase.

Gears are stripped, you can replace with brass gear and never have a problem. I went with the free route and spun the gear to an unused portion and never had any problems for years. I can't find the link for the how to, but you might want to check the corvette forum, this site is pretty lite on vette specific stuff.
