Default How to get C6 Z06 performance from a C5 Z06?

What would it take for a C5 Z06 to run as well as a C6 Z06?

Power and suspension-wise?

A good H/C/I combo will easily make the same or better peak HP as a stock LS7, but to match the torque curve will require cubic inches or forced induction.

IMO a good set of coil overs and a proper set of wheels and tires will make the C5 out handle the C6Z for the most part.

Nitrous...or some sort of forced induction. Vortech blowers have become popular as hell on c5's. One of those on 8 psi, c6Z shouldnt be too much of a problem.

A good cam, full exhaust and a good tune... With your heads ported and a FAST intake you should kill one no problem... A good H/C/I setup with tune should be upper 400RWHP....

Oh it will take more than that my friend. Ask me how I know...twice. Ported LS6 heads, cam, exhaust and FAST will put up a damn good fight but it will be a drivers race with a slight edge to the C6Z. That thing is stupid.

Well something is very wrong with your car then... Dont get me wrong the C6Z is a good car but they weigh more then the C5Z and make around 440 RWHP with similar gearing... A good H/C/I and im not talking a slap job setup will put you in the 480 RWHP range and I have seen a few a **** hair over 500 RWHP, That with a car that already weighs 3050lbs is pretty ******* deadly... Solid 10 second car all day....

MS4 Cam, Full exhaust, Stock heads & Intake, AMS Tune and I can pull away from C6Z's... Ask me HOW I KNOW lol....

Go find a C6Z and race it and put ups video please. You are suggesting a cam only z06 (stock ls6 heads) will pull a c6z??

C6z.. Mid 120 traps all day.. Will require heads and cam with bolt ons minimum to match that.

c6zs will put out ~500 rwhp with headers / cai / tune. It will take a very very strong H/C/I c5z to do so.

Crate motor LS7 is 13.5k, you can probably have a nice ~575rwhp 440ci built for ~$10k.

I'm just curious about it. I've been considering buying either a C5Z or a C6 base but I want something I've got more potential with than my Fbody. I knew the C5 was lighter but still had the same 5.7 bottom end. I was just curious as to whether the weight difference Fbody to Vette was enough to let a 5.7 car run as good as the LS7. I've been leaning more toward a LS3 C6 lately mainly because I see cam only cars are making almost 500rwhp.

It's a bit disorienting trying to drive anywhere around any speed limit after a run like that, isnt it?

I'm selling the complete ST80 Kit (which I'm sure I could've made 850-900rwhp with since I made 670rwhp 11psi with fat A/F ratio, Hot weather and 91octane)
I'm going with something bigger or buying C6 ZO6 Not sure yet !!!

If we are talking strickly drag racing and a completely bonestock C6Z with DRs only, a full bolt-on C5Z would be able to keep up with that C6Z. With that stated, a good H/C package would be a much better choice for the mission.

A c6z on radials is running very low 11's @ 124-125. A full bolt on (not H/C) C5Z would have a VERY hard time keeping up with that.

I do agree with you that it would be very difficult; however, it's still possible.
