Basically, I need a change of pace, and some new scenery. So after ten years of working for Vera Cadillac/Buick/GMC....I am leaving on September 27th. It has been a pleasure meeting a lot of you and your vehicles, I hope to stay in touch. I will still be just as available, if not more available to help out with mods here or there,....I just simply won't be able to at the dealership anymore. I do feel I am letting a lot of people down when it comes to getting they're vehicle serviced,...for that, I am sorry. I can still recommend a couple advisors, and a couple of techs that would take care of the vehicles for you though, and im certain they'd take good care of you.

I have been there since a young age, as an ASEP student, then turned into a tech, then recently, as in 6 months ago, I became a service consultant/advisor. I turned out to be pretty good at the job (90%trained within weeks, and#3 in sales currently and I am in the very back of the service drive, and I have limited clientele)but I found the job to be more stress then what its worth, longer hours, less free time, and more riding on my shoulders. For me, it was taking away my passion for the vehicles. Also, I moved several miles north, making it easier to work further north,..so, I made a move in a couple of ways with the mind set if I don't do it, and now, I may regret it.

So, with that said, I am going to a local RACE supply company, where I hope to stay for years to come. If any would like to keep in touch, pm me or email me, and we can do that. Again, thank you for the opportunity's, it's been a dream and a pleasure.

FYI:You have 2 weeks for service work.

Yeah the world od dealerships in this economy as a tech is ahrd to make "Good Money"

 

I don't know how you lasted 10 years in a dealership. I couldn't do it and struck out on my own in '97 - I don't regret that move at all and cashed out of the automotive repair biz in 01 after building a biz and two locations. I have to admit that I don't miss the headaches, hours and stress at all. I have other stress now but it sure isn't like that industry. Good luck in your new endeavor!

 

The money ain't bad....just not worth it.

Cars like the CTS-V kept me motivated. Kept me mixing business with pleasure. From blower or turbo kits on cars and trucks, to bolt ons, to built motors, from lowering kits to lift kits...you name it. That, coupled with here Jamie, take my 650rwhp CTS-V home for the weekend, make sure you hit the drag strip or the 1mile event on your way home. Lol, that fun stuff, mixed with the usual warranty cp, customer complaint stuff,...was my daily routine for so long.

Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to keep me here. So, now, time for the change....i've learned alot here though, and thats what its all about for me.

We've known each other from back in my Corvette days, long before my current gig. I was in your same shoes; fed up and needing to get away from the big company stress & bullsh!t. I think you're going to be much happier in your new role.

Good luck buddy, I moved to Ga. a year ago, and I am the service manager of a Christian Brothers auto center and there sure is "alot riding on your shoulders" with this industry and you're correct, it can dilute the passion for the actual cars.
