Default C6 z06

Hey everyone. I'm looking at eventually getting a C6 Z06. I've already got a few ideas I want to do to the outside. Nothing outrageous. Just stuff to compliment the lines. I'm looking at an Lingenfelter cam, cold air intake, cat back and maybe some suspension. Juat making it a nice driver. What kind of upgrades would be good for the car? I mean things like upgrading to the zr1 rear axle shafts, clutch, or other things like that. Thanks.

Purchase it first, get the feel for the car and Enjoy it. Your decisions right now might change when you actually buy one. What your doing is like buying a dress for a girlfriend that you dont have, nor know the size she wears.LOL. Jay

I understand what you are saying, but I've already got it planned out. I'm wanting to get the parts so that I have them ready for the car. It's gonna be an 06-07 LeManns Blue one.

The axle shafts on the Z06 aren't the weak point as I discovered the hard way. I broke the spider gears on mine dumping the clutch on dry pavement to do a burnout. Not a wise thing to do, but it was one hell of a smoke show.

Now I have an RPM Stage III rear end in it with ZR1 spider gears.

Be sure to read up in the C6Z section about the valve guides. When you have it apart, it would be best to take some preventative measures and have the heads redone.

Side note, have you ever driven one? They are scary fast in stock form if you're coming straight from an F-body. And the 562rwhp/510rwtq I have now is pretty much worthless in first and second gear because I can't get it to the pavement.

Default c6z06

I am comming from an ls1 fbody and driven one, but it was a short bit. Pretty much around the block, so not the full experience of one. So it'll compliment the 455HO Formula I'm restoring. The Formula as a nice cruiser with the big block power AMD a stupid fast car with ac. I'm not lookin to take it drag racing or anything. I might skip the cam swap and do valve springs and pushrod's motor wise. I'll look at the c6z section. Thanks for the tip.

I started with a 1999 Trans Am (hence "CySevans" because it was a SevanSeries Trans Am) that I traded for a 2003 Z06, which got traded for a 2006 Z51 Coupe, which got traded for my current car. The Trans Am felt like it would come apart if you tried to cruise it at triple digit speeds. This Z06 will cruise at 120+ like it's 65 MPH. THAT is what you're paying for when you jump ship into the Vette world. The handling is amazing. Power is secondary to handling, but there is plenty of it available. These cars weren't designed strictly for straight line acceleration unlike the F-Bodies. They were designed to run the twisties.

Hell, my Trans Am had Eibach springs, welded and cross-braced subframes, Bilstein shocks, strut tower brace, torque arm, adjustable panhard rod, performance control arms, etc., etc., in order to improve the handling. And as soon as I drove my mother-in-law's bone stock 2001 Corvette coupe, I realized I was wasting my time with the wrong car. I sold the Trans Am that same year and bought the C5Z and have never looked back.

Good luck.
