Yeah, 04 Gixxer ran a 10.3 while the ZX-10 ran a 10.10 or something around that in some Euro bike mag. Then when they ran it against the 03 Gixxer it ran a 10.03 while the ZX-10 ran a 10.09. The bikes are too comparable, but the GSX-R1000 isnt much heavier, nor less powerful. The Kawa will be the poser bike to have, imo, like the R1 and Gixxer 1k were.

id get the z06. im lookin to get rid of my 00 SS now to either find a FRC or a 02 z06. its still gonna take a lot for an fbod to keep up. i have a buddy with a 02 ws6 379 rwhp and his roomates 03 z06 pulls him all day long and its bone stock. the z06 really light which helps it out. so on an 01+ fbody u basically do full exhaust and a tr224 cam and ur going to be as fast if not a lil slower or a lil faster than a stock 02+ z06.

Z06 - thinner windshield, 2002+ z06's all have hud and Active Handling
, $1k head cores (which you could sell or use), Z06 suspension springs ($800-$1600 if you change to them later), $300 shocks, better tires and wider wheels.

Things you lose by a Z06 are runflats and tire sensors. FRCs don't have the titanium exhaust.

HUD was available as a FRC option starting with the late '99s...and I'd get one with it for sure. The Z06 wheels are 1" wider in front and rear.

A little known ZO6 benefit....slightly stronger ring gear/pinion due to shot peening and a stronger torque tube ala driveshaft

Keep in mind that a 4.10 gear in an M6 is like an M12 with just below a 3.42. The M12 first and second gear pack makes a 3.42 act like a 3.90 in an M6. Most of my buddies are amazed that with that much gear the car doesn't spin its behind off. Below is a chart showing the compound gear ratio of the rear + the trany together. For drag racing, I think the M6 might actually be better as it is a bit more of a close ratio box. The M12 is stronger out of the hole, but there is a big drop on the 3rd gear shift. If the car has the power, I think your 60' would be off by about .1 over an 12, but the car as a whole might do better as a M6 with enough motor.

For a stroker, I'd look at 3.90s if you're going to do a stroker as you may MPH enough to run out of gear in a 4.10 car. Also depends on how many RPM you plan to tun it...

M6 -
2.66 1st
1.78 2nd
1.30 3rd
1.00 4th

M6 with 4.10s 6500 shift point
Gear Ratio
1 10.91 45.6
2 7.30 68.2
3 5.33 93.4
4 4.10 121.4
5 3.07 161.9
6 2.05 242.9
R 11.89 41.9

M12 -
2.97 1st
2.07 2nd
1.43 3rd
1.00 4th

M12 with 4.10s
Gear Ratio
1 12.18 40.9
2 8.49 58.7
3 5.86 84.9
4 4.10 121.4
5 3.44 144.6
6 2.30 216.8
R 13.45 37.0

The FRC is a good option. Plus, as stated, you can get it with some options that you can't get in a Z06. If I was going to dump the motor right off, I think I'd seriously look at an FRC. You can always add the Z06 parts you want.

The 2001 Z06s are nice, but lack HUD (which you can add).

2002 and later are all the same for the most part.

Of course if you are going to do a bolt on supercharger, I'd look at a 2002 Z06, a you have a good blower cam in the car, and pretty good heads right out of the box.

GM claims the 04 Z06 has revised shock settings? What that accomplished, I'm not sure?
I traded my 03 coupe for an 04 Z06, so that should tell you what my opinion is on whether the Z06 is worth it.
