'98 c5 a4 transmission problems?

'98 c5 a4 transmission problems? 98 c5 a4 with 99,xxx
To me it seems like the transmission is not shifting right. What I'm noticing is from 1st-2nd during normal driving the car shifts hard, it's not like a clean firm hard shift you get from a shift kit it's more of a clunk type hard shift. If I shift it manually it shifts hard but it's more of a clean firm hard shift that you would get from a shift kit. Also from gears 2 shifting to gear 3 the car will not shift at WOT, it will just bang off the rev limiter. Also I noticed that with just regular driving when the car shifts into overdrive its more like it slips into over drive and you have to give it a good amount of gas to get it to kick down from overdrive. Any help is greatly appreciated, I'm assuming this is not normal but the last auto c5 I had was almost three years ago so my memory of the shifting is somewhat vague.
