2006 z06 common issues?
so after selling my ws6, im in the market for a c6 z06.
I have heard many stories with the 06 and early 07 models having trouble within the heads in the ls7 engines. what procedure do most do in order to fix this issue? how can this be fixed? or do the entire heads need to be replaced?
EDIT: on corvette forums there is info on the rocker arms needing to be replaced in 07 models, but is there not some trouble with the valve guides as well?
I also read that an oil cooler would be a good investment as well?
car will be a DD for the majority of time, then as i get more money to invest, it will be seeing more track time and receive supporting mods.
any other common issues with the 06-08 z06? seems like every time i search, it brings up the common issues with the c5z..

If you can buy a 08, go with it. You get a tr6060 instead of a t56. Ls7 heads had issues with valve guides or something that caused them to drop valves. Not sure how common it really was or not.

well is it possible to put a tr6060 in a 06 or 07 model? as for weak axels, i dont plan on running slicks so it shouldnt be terrible.
i realize that these are street cars and will need proper transformation in order to be functional track cars as well.

I think the best buy is in the 06-07 at the moment. you will take less of a loss, and its just as fast of a car.
is a TR6060 better transmission then a T56? yes, is it better buy any amount that's going to show its face? no. the T56 has been handling vetts vipers and cobras for years. there was just finally a few upgrades made. its nothing to shy away from..
all LS7s CAN have a valve guide problem, the forums blow the numbers way out of proportions. but wroth addressing if your modding for sure.
the 2007 was the year for the needle bearing issue. can check vin to see if its in the range, or trunnion upgrade.

well i would love to get into a ls7 but friday im going to look at a ls3 vette for $20,900. 80,000 miles is a bit more than i was wanting but then again this is a very good price and i would feel less guilty about using it for a DD

thats a great buy as well, you will enjoy it ALOT.. 99% of the time the Z potential is not used... brakes, handeing, power its there when you push it but lets face thats not all the time. the handeling most owners dont ever push the car to the edge.
