Default C5Z or base C5?

What would yield the better bang for buck: Refreshing and moding a base C5, or using that extra cash for the C5Z?

Im in a 2002 SS right now, in love with the LS and the T56. Wanting to upgrade to the Vette but my priority is budget and reliability over performance.

really depends on what mods your panning on doing if doing cam and heads i say base model is better bang for buck. c5z out the box looks a little better and going to be a little faster. If you get a frc you can have the same body type then get a heads and cam you will walk all over a c5z.

I was able to get into a base C5 for a crazy good price... First LS car and I love it. Not taking away from the Z06 but I'm sure you would love a base model and then mod it to your taste.

I just made the same decision, I can't leave things alone so since I know I'll mod it anyway I went with the base C5. There are pros and cons to both, but getting an equally nice base for almost 10 grand cheaper sealed the deal for me. I'm indifferent about the coupe vs FRC look, and everything mechanical is easily swapped so I can afford to pick and choose what combo I want. All that was important to me was a clean body and straight chassis, so it depends on what you want specifically.

I will say that you'll love it compared to your SS, I'm keeping my camaro though, the difference between having a muscle car and a sports car means I'll enjoy doing different things with each car, and mod them accordingly.

I have a 2003 C5 base coupe.

After several years, I had A&A SuperCharge it.
Was fun before, but now this car is awesome. And so much more fun to drive. I think for the money(as you mentioned), the base coupe is the way to go.
